QCP: Church News: Women take offense to viral clips of T. D. Jakes sermons By Candace L. Smith Over the past few months Bishop T. D. Jakes has been in the headlines and the mouthpieces of many bloggers after clips of his sermon speaking very harshly towards women surfaced on Tik Tok and other social media platforms. Bishop Jakes is a household name in many Black and African American families.  He became popular in the late 90s and early 2000s after he preached a lot of popular sermons and held many christian conferences that often highlighted the plight of the Black woman.   One of his most famous conferences was "Woman thou art loosed."  This sermon and conference that has been an annual conference, often time a sold out event, brought a lot of financial gain and recognition in Black womens households.   The "Woman Thou Art Loosed" message resonated with the Black woman whose pain was often neglected and unrecognized by black men openly even though they often fille

Church News: The Bishop, The Blogger and The Community’s Response.

Church News: The Bishop, The Blogger and The Community’s Response. By Candace L. Smith In the next two seasons of Unfiltered we will discuss the church and community. I may end up references some of these viral moments in the black community regarding clergy. In this video I share my thoughts about the Bishop that was robbed at gunpoint during his church service. QCP: Community News - Breonna Taylor’s Justice - State &  Local cover up - Feds “investigation” By Candace L. Smith I ran across the news report that gave an update on the Feds investigation into her suspicious death. The state and local governments displayed ignorance in understanding how she was suspiciously shot dead by police acting on a warrant. When the news first dropped it was during the height of George Floyd’s death and there was a lot of outrage over another black body dying by the hands of white PD officers. Taylor’s case got a lot of attention as it should have and many people questioned the validity of the warrant bc people were able to see Taylor’s life documented through social media and verified by her family that she was a law abiding citizen. There was no reason for her to be involved in a warrant. When it resulted in her death people never forgot. Especially her mother and close family. They continued to advocate for justice for her life. Eventually a federal in
