The Ones Closest to You Can Hurt You the Worst. It’s cold down here in sunny Florida so I’m bundled up at the office, but I had to share something that came across my mind. I thought about a conversation I had with a friend years ago. I didn’t quite get to finish my thought, but I said all of this to say, “when someone shows you who they are believe them the first time.” Thank you, Maya Angelou. Sometimes the ones closest to you and know you best are the ones they can hurt you the most because they have the information. They know you. If you’ve been in relationship (friend or family or romantic) for a long time they understand the things that can hurt, you through trial and error. It’s never an accident when they scare you with spiders when you’ve told them you’re afraid of them.
