When I took these photos in 2020, I knew then that one of these pictures would be used for the cover of Phatabulously Made. I worked with Jose Pagan Photography, and we traveled out to a beautiful beach in Florida. These were taken just steps from the water in an open field. I laid a gigantic checkerboard sheet across the ground, and we lined up the large checker pieces around the board and he was able to snap these beautiful photos.
When I first started designing the cover, I settled on these six and tried a variety of font types and filters to add depth and to give it the book representation of who I am and what I was feeling during the moments I'm describing in the book.
I love this zebra print jumpsuit and I knew this would be the garment for the cover. Why? Because I love zebras-the animal. They're mysterious and beautiful. I found this jumpsuit on Style Your Curves website- an online boutique with stylish plus size apparel. This garment was perfect for this shoot and cover because it's light weight and although there was a light breeze coming off the water that day, I felt cool, and I was able to move around well for the various poses.

Phatabulously Made was supposed to be the first book released from Queen Connect Publishing (insert eye roll). However, while writing it I began writing about another time in my life that I felt like it was important to discuss and get out.
A Grown Woman's Game was inspired by Phatabulously Made. I love how honest I was able to be about my weight issues and while recounting moments of my childhood other things began to resurface and they were more important to address.
I promised myself that I would return to Phatabulously Made and finish up and publish it and I've done that, and I cannot wait for you all to read it.
In March of this year 2022 I held a book release event in Jacksonville Florida---my hometown. During that event I displayed a notebook with these photos, and I asked the attendees to please help me choose the next cover to my book. I placed a number on each picture, and they all voted for their favorite ones. Well, the votes are in and have been tallied.
Check out this short video of me reading the votes and selecting the cover to Phatabulously Made.

Surveillance Pricing: The Hidden Cost of Your Personal Data Have you ever noticed that prices seem to fluctuate depending on how and where you shop? Maybe you’ve used Instacart or another grocery delivery app and found that the price of your favorite milk online is higher than what you’d pay in-store. At first, these small discrepancies might seem like an unavoidable part of online shopping. But what if I told you that businesses might be charging you more based on who you are? Surveillance pricing is a practice where companies use personal data—such as your age, gender, income level, or even your location—to adjust the prices you see. Essentially, what you pay for everyday items could depend on what retailers assume you can afford. A recent Federal Trade Commission (FTC) study revealed how this type of pricing discrimination is becoming more common, with companies using advanced algorithms to analyze consumer behavior and set prices accordingly. In the Last Days: The Church vs. The Black Israelites Across social media, a recent viral moment has sparked intense discussion within the faith community. A prayer event led by Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchel was met with protests by a group identifying as the Black Israelites — reigniting long-standing debates about faith, race, and identity in the Black community. The confrontation, caught on video, shows the deep divide growing between traditional Christianity and movements that challenge its authority and cultural roots. The Black Israelites, also known as the Hebrew Israelites, are members of a religious movement that teaches that African Americans are the direct descendants of the ancient Israelites — the chosen people of the Bible. This belief system holds that through the transatlantic slave trade, African Americans were stripped of their true identity, history, and divine purpose. While not all Black Israelite groups are identical in their teachings, most share common beliefs: ...
